Preserving the integrity of Nashville’s storied midcentury architecture, Drift brings new life and meaning to the developing East Bank area with striking minimalist-modern design.

Built in 1966, the hotel presents clean lines and an inherent nostalgia that are accentuated by white paint contrasted by deep-sea green and blue accents that create the illusion that the lower portion of the building has been dipped in paint. The architect brilliantly mixes materials, including local handmade tiles, wood, brick, terrazzo, concrete, terracotta, soft velvets, leather, and rugs, to create texture and a relaxing atmosphere. Here, old and new are repurposed to maximum effect.

California-heritage coastal-living style combines with a Nashville ethos to create a Baja-minimalism vibe, a world of many natural contrasting materials that make for beautiful harmony.

Baja flair comes alive with warm colors and a bold mash-up of materials, such as leather, concrete, and terra cotta. Local artisanal touches are found throughout, from the custom wood door handles and the handmade plaster lighting sculptures over the welcome desk to the handmade tiles in the rooms, cafe, and lobby bar. The Nashville community vibe is further enhanced by the local artwork found throughout the hotel.
