Seezeitlodge Architecture in Gonnesweiler

Architecture Graft Gesellschaft von Architekten

Larch wood that frames expanses of glass creates a sense of immediacy, connecting guests to abundant natural beauty.

The hotel’s slatted wooden façade uses larch that has been charred to give the building a silvery-black shine, making it appear as it if it were a natural part of the topography. The structure was carefully placed not only to maximize its stunning lake views, but with the rising and setting sun in mind. The result for the guest is an intense connection with the forest and the lake.

Interior design Birgit Nicolay of Nicolay Design

Birgit Nicolay created a look that augments the natural light and brings the feel of the forest and lake inside.

Wallpaper with designs featuring Celtic knots, braided materials in lamps, and an abundance of light wood are augmented by panoramic views and clear lines. And throughout, bright natural materials and colors dominate.

Food & Drink Healthy, local, and exquisite

Expansive views of nature are rivaled by chef Daniel Schöfisch’s fresh, light, and natural culinary concept.

The hotel’s Restaurant Lumi serves seasonal dishes defined by fragrant harvested herbs that are handpicked from the garden. A carefully considered breakfast buffet is comprised of organic, regional fare and freshly baked goods. Bar Nox, meanwhile, is the perfect retreat for classic drinks, aperitifs, digestifs, and wines from choice vineyards.

Sustainability Keeping an eye on our Conscious Hotel Principles

“We focus on regionality whenever possible and act in an environmentally friendly manner.”

Architecture

Architecture

GRAFT Architects approached the land with respect, taking inspiration from the natural topography to develop the striking shape of the building.

Waste

Waste

The hotel avoids plastic packaging and uses reusable containers when possible. Food-sharing is practiced in the restaurant, donating unused food to food banks and associations.

Water

Water

Rooms feature water-saving showerheads with built-in aerators. Instead of a classic air conditioning system, the hotel uses concrete core activation, which heats and cools the building via the concrete wall and ceilings.

Energy

Energy

The hotel uses a rooftop photovoltaic system that covers 17% of its own energy usage. The pool temperature is maintained using heat from the cogeneration unit/heat recovery cooling unit that cools the server room.

Products

Products & Produce

Seezeitlodge grows its own herbs and sources ingredients from local producers. Sustainable products are prioritized, such as free-range eggs, venison from nearby hunting grounds, and MSC-certified fish.

Culture

Culture

Through a long-standing partnership with “GuddZweck—Glasses without Borders,” the hotel provides glasses to those in need. The hotel has taken its LUMI Mobil food truck to street food festivals in the area and supports causes from kindergartens to village festivals.

Recreation

Recreation

The activity program includes yoga and mindfulness classes, tours through the herb garden and bee colonies, a guided hike with our hiking guide, or a Nordic walking tour by the lake.

Accessability

Accessibility

A free electric shuttle from the nearby Türkismühle train station is offered. There are over 55 electric charging stations on property. Guest rooms, the restaurant, and the lobby are all barrier-free.

Healthyworkplace

Healthy Workplace

Educational opportunities are available to staff, including German language lessons. Employees can access furnished staff apartments on the grounds, catering at the Food Lodge, and unlimited use of the fitness center and spa.

Communication

Measure & Communication

The hotel measures its energy usage. Guests can learn more about the hotel’s sustainability efforts through the website, social media, app, and through communications on property.
